YouTube Music Launches New Personalized Playlists
Google is releasing a big new feature for YouTube Music. The company’s music-streaming service has been lacking behind the industry leaders quite a lot, only recently introducing support for gapless playback.
YouTube Music is now introducing another major new feature: personalized playlists. Much like Spotify, YouTube Music will now offer personalized playlists based on your own listening taste and habits that are updated regularly.
The new personalized playlists include Discover Mix, New Release Mix, and Your Mix:
- Discover Mix: Like Spotify’s Discover Weekly, Discover Mix is a new personalized playlist that helps you expand your music library by showing you new artists and songs that you may like based on your existing library. The playlist is updated every Wednesday and gives you up to 50 tracks to listen to.
- New Release Mix: Surfaces the latest music by your favorite artists and some others that you may like, updated every Friday and mid-week for all the mid-week releases.
- Your Mix: and lastly, Your Mix is a playlist full of songs and artists that you already like, plus a bit of songs/artists you have never heard before. This playlist is updated regularly, though it doesn’t seem to be on a weekly basis like the other two.
YouTube Music’s new personalized playlists are available on iOS, Android, and the web today.
