Zoom Announces New Logo And Products Rebranding

Posted September 12, 2022 | Cloud | Windows | Zoom

Zoom unveiled today a brand new logo as well as some product updates. If you mistakenly believed that Zoom is just a video meeting app, the company created an expanded version of its new logo where each “o” represents a different product: Team Chat, Meetings, Rooms, etc.

“What started as a video meeting app quickly moved into broadcast webinars, connected conference rooms, and more, and it continues to evolve and expand,” said Zoom Chief Marketing Officer Janine Pelosi today. “This evolution is more than a decade in the making. You will see it reflected today in our new look and refreshed visual identity. You’ll also see it in the innovation in our product offerings.”

The main change in Zoom’s product lineup is that Zoom Chat is being rebranded to Zoom Team Chat. This product never really enjoyed the same level of attention as Zoom’s video meeting capabilities so far, but the company wants that to change.

“Conversations begin during video calls and in the meeting chat box, but those conversations turn into something more in our persistent chat product,” explained Pelosi. Zoom Team Chat offers different channels just like Slack and Microsoft Teams, and it also supports external collaboration and integrations with third-party apps.

Zoom Team Chat is part of Zoom One, the company’s all-in-one communication offering that also includes Zoom Meetings with up to 300 attendees, Zoom Whiteboard, and 5GB of cloud storage. The company already plans to announce more enhancements to Zoom Team Chat during a webinar later this month.

Zoom’s popularity really exploded during the pandemic, but the company is now really serious about becoming an all-in-one productivity solution. “What we’re striving for is becoming the operating system for your workday,” says Zoom CFO Kelly Steckelberg in an interview with Fast Company. Zoom definitely enjoys great brand awareness today, but it certainly won’t be easy to convince companies to move away from the breadth of capabilities provided by Microsoft 365, or Google Workspace.
