Windows Terminal Hits Version 0.9, Adds New Features

Posted February 14, 2020 | Windows | Windows 10 | Windows Terminal

Microsoft announced this week that the preview version of Windows Terminal has been upgraded to version 0.9, adding several useful new features.

Here’s what’s new.

Command line arguments. You can now use command line arguments to launch Terminal in whatever configuration you like, including the ability to open it with specific tabs and pane splits.

PowerShell auto-detect. Windows Terminal will now auto-detect when you have multiple PowerShell versions installed on your PC and will create a profile for the “best” version (based on the version number, whether it’s a GA version, and so on) so you can use it immediately as the default. The other PowerShell versions will still be available via a drop-down menu, of course.

Close All Tabs customization. Now, you can decide whether you’re prompted when you choose to close all open tabs via a new global setting.

But wait, there’s more. Windows Terminal also picks up some accessibility, drag-and-drop, copy and paste, selection expansion, and Visual Studio code key improvements in this release. Plus, there are several bug fixes.

You can download Windows Terminal Preview 0.9 from the Microsoft Store or from GitHub.
