Photoshop Turns 30, Adds New Features on Desktop and iPad

Posted February 19, 2020 | Adobe | Adobe Photoshop | Cloud | iPadOS | Mac and macOS | Windows | Windows 10

Adobe is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its flagship Photoshop application by adding new features on desktop and iPad.

“Photoshop first made its debut in 1990, and [it] has had an indelible impact on the visual arts and culture ever since,” an Adobe representative told me. “The product team behind Photoshop has continued to innovate at a rapid pace, reinvent the experience, and enable artists, designers, photographers, and many others to bring their imaginations and visions to life. Last year alone, Photoshop received an Academy Award, launched on the iPad, and continued to make huge strides in integrating Adobe Sensei AI and machine learning-powered features to allow even more people to create.”

As for the new features, the desktop versions of Photoshop are picking up content-aware Fill workspace improvements so that you can make multiple selections and apply multiple fills without leaving the workspace; improvements to the lens blur effect; support for Dark Mode on macOS, and performance improvements. And on iPad, Photoshop is getting a major update with new selection capabilities, better typographic controls, expanded cloud document support, and more.
