Netflix Will Now Let You Stop Auto-Playing Previews

Posted February 7, 2020 | Music + Videos | Netflix | Windows

When it comes to the viewing experience, Netflix offers a really good, consistent experience across devices. There is, however, one really annoying thing about watching Netflix.

Autoplaying videos.

For months, Netflix has had a feature where it starts auto-playing trailers for shows and movies when you are just browsing. Hovering over a show or just sitting on a show while you’re browsing on the home screen would automatically start playing the previews for shows and movies.

And frankly, that was incredibly annoying.

Netflix has finally heard all our complaints and is now going to give users the options to disable this feature. “Some people find this feature helpful. Others not so much. We’ve heard the feedback loud and clear — members can now control whether or not they see autoplay previews on Netflix,” the company tweeted on Thursday.

Users can control the autoplay feature from the Manage Profile section within Netflix. The company gives users two different options: disabling the ability for the next episode in a series to autoplay, but more importantly, disabling auto-playing previews when browsing.
