Motorola Announces the iPhone X. I Mean the Moto P30.

Posted August 15, 2018 | Android | Hardware | iPhone X | Mobile | Moto P30 | Windows

Motorola today made its new Moto P30 flagship official. The company’s Moto P30 is a flagship for the Chinese market, and so it’s entirely different from what you would expect a regular Motorola handset to be.

It’s an iPhone X, basically.

Motorola’s Moto P30 is an unapologetic clone of the iPhone X. From the dual camera setup to the design of the phone’s body, and even the logo placement on the back is a 1:1 copy of the iPhone X. The device also ships with Lenovo’s ZUI skin instead of a regular clean build of Android. After all, this phone is made for the Chinese market, where customers prefer these skins that look much like iOS.

Moto P30 comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor, 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, a 6.2-inch display with a resolution of 2246×1080 pixels, and a 3000mAh battery. For the camera, Motorola has included a 16MP sensor with a 5MP secondary sensor on the back — the system makes use of some sort of AI to take shots with “more refined depth of field effect”, much like the iPhone’s portrait mode camera. The device also ships with Android 8.0 — yes, Android Oreo. Not even Android 8.1, which is a real shame considering Android 9.0 aka Pie is already out.

Moto P30 will go on sale next month, starting at 2,099 RMB which is roughly around $300. It’s available in black, white, and two-tone purple/blue model.
