Microsoft has started rolling out the March 2022 Update for Xbox consoles. The main highlight is a new Pin to Quick Resume feature on Xbox Series X|S consoles, which lets gamers pin up to two games in Quick Resume so they won’t be replaced by other recently played games.

Quick Resume is an exclusive Xbox Series X|S feature that can suspend multiple games in the background, allowing players to pick up where they left off almost instantly. Because it’s only possible to keep a limited number of games in a Quick Resume state, this new Pin to Quick Resume makes the feature slightly more flexible by allowing gamers to choose two games that will always stay in the Quick Resume group. However, the Xbox team notes that pinned games will still drop out of Quick Resume when they receive a mandatory update.

To pin games to Quick Resume, you’ll need to select a game in the Quick Resume Group, press the Menu button, and choose Pin to Quick Resume. You can manually unpin games anytime you want, and the Xbox OS will also ask you which pinned game you want to replace when you want to pin a new one while having two games already pinned.

The March Xbox Update also introduces the ability to remap the Share button on the Xbox Series X|S controller. By default, this button is used for taking screenshots or recording gameplay videos, but gamers can now use the Xbox Accessories app to assign many other actions to this button, including opening the friends list or the achievements list in a game.

Microsoft has also started rolling out new firmware updates for Xbox controllers today which can be installed via the Xbox Accessories app on Xbox and PC. “This release includes fixes and updates that deliver performance improvements to Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth support, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and Xbox Adaptive Controllers,” the Xbox team explained.

Lastly, the March Xbox Update introduces a new audio setup wizard for HDMI devices which can help users choose the best possible settings for their audio installation. The new setup wizard is available in Settings under General > Volume & audio output > Audio setup.

That’s it for the March 2022 Xbox Update, which you can manually install now by going to Settings > System > Updates. If you’re not in a hurry, the update should be installed automatically when you’re not using your Xbox console.
