Lenovo Upgrades Legion Gaming Laptops With New NVIDIA RTX GPUs

Lenovo is launching an upgraded line of gaming products for its Legion line. The company is mainly launching two new gaming laptops, the new Legion Y740 and the Legion Y540, along with a bunch of other new gaming accessories.

Both the new Legion gaming laptops come with NVIDIA’s latest and greatest GeForce RTX GPUs.

The upgraded Legion line of laptops also come with new 8th gen Intel processors, with the Y740 coming with up to the i7-8750H. The 15-inch Y740 is powered by the RTX 2070 with Max-Q design but you can also get the RTX 2060 GPU if you want to save some money. The 17-inch variant of the device comes with up to thee NVIDIA RTX 2080 with Max-Q design.

Both the devices also come with an improved Legion Coldfront Cooling System that utilizes a dual fan thermal layout to keep the device cool even during intense gaming sessions. Lenovo says both the devices will offer up to 6 hours of battery life for gamers.

The display on the Y740 has been upgraded with a brighter panel, now available with a Dolby Vision HDR panel, producing up to 500 nits of brightness. On the Y540, you can now get the Dolby Vision HDR panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz and 300 nits of brightness. It also now comes with NVIDIA’s new RTX 2060 GPU. Both the displays come with a narrow, three-sided bezel that measures at only 6.7mm.

Lenovo says the company has improved the display hinge on both the products for improved display panel stability. It now includes Harman Kardon’s speakers with Dolby Atmos Audio on the Y540 for much better audio quality when you are gaming, too.

In terms of the other specs, you can get up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 2TB of HDD or up to 512GB of SATA SSD on both the devices. The new Y740, starting at $1979.99, will be available from February in an Iron Gray finish, while the Y540 will be available from May, starting at $929.99 in a Raven Black finish.

As for the other Legion products, Lenovo has a new $1199.99 43.4-inch “borderless” Legion Y44fw gaming monitor, the new $999.99 27-inch Legion Y27gq monitor, the new $99.99 Legion H500 7.1 Pro and $59.99 Legion H300 gaming headsets, $99.99 Legion K500 RGB Mechanical Keyboard, and the $59.99 Legion M500 RGB Gaming Mouse. All available in April.
