Google testing 5G Pixel 4 model that could arrive next week
The Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are officially less than one week away but a new report by Nikkei Asian Review suggests the flagship duo could eventually be joined by a secret third model that includes an extra capabilities.
The Google Pixel 4 5G is reportedly in test production
According to sources familiar with the matter, Google is in the process of completing development on a third Pixel 4 variant that incorporates “5G technology.” Little is known about the smartphone at the moment but it’s reportedly “in test production” which means a release probably won’t happen for another few months if Google chooses to move forward with the project. Nevertheless, it’s suggested an announcement could take place alongside the 4G Pixel 4 series and Pixelbook Go Chromebook on Tuesday, October 15.
The sources revealed Google’s 4G Pixel 4 devices have already entered mass production and should therefore be ready in time for a global release later this month. Curiously, the possibility of Google’s long-rumored Pixel smartwatch making an appearance next week was also mentioned. This is particularly interesting considering the wearable was reported as dead last month.
The decision to develop a 5G Pixel 4 will help Google beat rival Apple to market with a 5G smartphone and should also help it capitalize on the growing popularity of 5G which is expected to increase significantly in early 2020 as the networks start to rapidly expand in size.
