Framework today announced the Framework Laptop Chromebook Edition, which it is creating in partnership with Google. Like its other laptops, this Chromebook will be user upgradeable, repairable, customizable.

“We’ve taken the best parts of the Framework Laptop and merged those with the powerful simplicity of ChromeOS to create a high-performance, upgradeable, repairable, customizable Chromebook,” Framework’s  Marissa Buyck writes. “The Chromebook Edition leverages design from the Framework Laptop, [and it] is our most power-efficient product yet with optimizations from Google and Intel that allow for long-lasting battery life.”

Framework Laptop Chromebook Edition is powered by a 28-watt 12th-Gen Intel Core i5-1240P processor, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM (up to 64 GB), and 256 GB of NVMe SSD storage (up to 1 TB), and it features a 2256×1504 3:2 display. You can configure it with the ports you want, and it supports USB-C, USB-A, MicroSD, HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet, high-speed storage, and more. It also includes a Full HD webcam, a backlit keyboard, a 55-watt-hour battery, and a 60-watt USB-C charger.

Interestingly, Framework Laptop Chromebook Edition also includes Google’s Titan C security chip and it will receive automatic updates for up to eight years.

Framework Laptop Chromebook Edition starts at $999 and it can now be pre-ordered in the U.S. and Canada. The device is expected to start shipping in early December.
