First Ring Daily 1214: Apple Event Hangover

Posted March 9, 2022 | First Ring Daily | Podcasts | Windows

I agree. Intel has the 11th Gen, 12th Gen, then the 13th Gen (if they keep that naming) and then the various versions inside of that generation; (U, P, H) and then they have the i series inside of that; i3, i5, i7, i9. Apple has two lines currently the A series and the M series. For the M they have M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M1 Ultra.

When Apple does the M2 chip it will be just like Intel does the 12th and 13th generations and Intel releases those generations over several months. Apple is doing the same with the base M series and then updates to the other lines in that series over several months. Just like Intel, I would guess the M series will see percent improvements over time in a wide range of areas and it will be a yearly(ish) update cycle.
