First Ring Daily 1097: Changes to Start
On my computer(s) I use desktop icons to create a sort of reference library of information sources.
I use the taskbar for easy access to things I use frequently,
and I use the start menu for things I use les frequently, but I still want easy access to.
When I see something on the web I want to get back to, I add a shortcut to my desktop. Once a month I cull the accumulated desktop icons to remove items I no longer need.
The first of each month is my house keeping day. I clean up my desktop icons and Start Menu, I run the Windows clean up tools to get rid of most of those bits of debris that seem to accumulate (temp files, etc.) everywhere, and I run various system maintenance utilities as needed.
I keep my system backed up with daily incremental backups and monthly full system imaging. I have not needed the backups yet, but I know they work because I tested the system after setting it up.
These steps seem to keep my system running well with plenty of git-up-n-go.
I hope this information helps someone else,
