Flush with success, Disney+ will be raising its monthly and annual subscription prices in 2021 along with the prices of its ESPN+ and Hulu bundles.

The monthly price of Disney+ will rise from $6.99 now to $7.99 beginning in March 2021, the firm said during a virtual investors meeting.

“These price increases reflect an increase in the underlying value of the Disney Plus product offering,” Disney chief financial officer Christine McCarthy said.

Disney now says that it had 86.8 million subscribers by December 2, 38.8 million Hulu subscribers, and 11.5 million ESPN+ subscribers. (The cost of a bundle of all three services will go up $1 as well to $12.99 per month as of March 2021.) Disney originally expected to have 60 million to 90 million subscribers by 2024.

“Disney+ has exceeded our expectations,” Disney CEO Bob Chapek said.

Disney is also dramatically expanded the amount of content it will provide to subscribers. It has plans for 10 series based on the Marvel universe, 10 Star Wars series, and 15 Pixar-based series, in the coming years, plus 15 Disney and Pixar feature-length films.
