Disney today announced a major multi-year deal with UK’s Sky. The new partnership is mainly for Disney’s video streaming service Disney+, which will be launching later this month in the United Kingdom.

As part of the deal, Sky will be making Disney+ available on Sky Q, the company’s smart set-top box. Disney+ will also be coming to Sky’s Now TV service in the coming months.

Disney+ will be available for Sky Q users in the United Kingdom and Ireland starting March 24th. But more importantly, the deal will give Sky customers access to purchase 20th Century film titles before anyone else. “As the deal includes the first-pay window for 20th Century titles, Sky Cinema customers will continue to enjoy access to the latest blockbusters, like Le Mans ’66 and Terminator: Dark Fate,” said Sky.

“We’ve built a strong partnership with Disney over three decades and we’re pleased that our customers in the UK and Ireland can continue to enjoy their world-class content – all in one place on Sky Q. This is a great start to what is set to be another stellar year for Sky – in 2020 we’ll launch new channels and genres, start building Sky Studios Elstree and we’ve got brilliant new and returning originals coming too,” said Jeremy Darroch, Group Chief Executive at Sky.

Variety reports that Sky beat its competitors Virgin Media and BT to secure the deal with Disney. It is not clear, however, whether this is an exclusive deal between Disney and Sky.
