Microsoft is continuing its big AI push at its Build developer conference this week, and Windows 11 is about to be updated with new AI-powered features. This morning, the software giant announced a new Windows Copilot experience coming in preview in June, but new AI features are also coming soon to the Microsoft Store.

The upcoming AI Hub will offer a curated selection of AI-powered apps in the Microsoft Store. Users will find photo editing and other productivity apps that have all been tested by Microsoft to ensure they’re safe to use.

Soon, the Microsoft Store will also be able to summarize customer reviews for apps. This should be especially useful for the rare apps that received hundreds (or more) reviews.

For app developers, the Microsoft Store will soon be able to suggest search tags for apps. We are using AI to consume your metadata, as well as other signals, and help you improve the discoverability of your app in the Microsoft Store search results,” explained Giorgio Sardo, General Manager, Microsoft Store.

Lastly, Microsoft highlighted today a new backup and restore capability for Microsoft Store apps on Windows 11. When getting started with a new Windows 11 PC, users will see the icons for the Store apps they had on a previous Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC reappear right where they used to be on the Start menu and taskbar. This new restore capability is currently being tested with Windows Insiders.
