Apple TV+ Comes to 2019 LG TVs

Posted February 4, 2020 | Apple TV | Hardware | LG | Windows

When LG introduced its 2020 TVs at CES, the company revealed them along with the new Apple TV app. The Apple TV app allows users to access Apple’s new video streaming service Apple TV+, and also buy movies, TV shows, etc.

The new Apple TV app is now coming to LG’s older TVs. The company is starting off by bringing the Apple TV app to its 2019 smart TVs, and it also expects to bring the new app to its 2018 TVs later this year.

Apple TV on LG TVs can be accessed from the LG Home Launcher, and it essentially offers the same experience as it does on other devices.

LG TVs also include support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support, which means users can share or mirror content from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac directly to their TV. And with HomeKit support, users are able to control their TV with the Home app on their iPhone, or iPad.

LG says support for Apple TV, AirPlay 2, and HomeKit is coming to its OLED TVs and NanoCell TVs (series SM9X and SM8X) starting this week. Later this month, the Apple TV app will be available on select UHD TVs (series UM7X and UM6X). And as stated earlier, the company plans to bring the app to its 2018 TVs later this year.
