Apple Music Classical App is Now Available on Android

Posted May 31, 2023 | Android | Apple Music | Mobile | Music + Videos | Windows

Apple has made its new Apple Music Classical App available on Android devices this week. The app was first released on iOS on March 28, letting Apple Music subscribers enjoy a standalone app that’s specifically designed for classical music.

Just like on iOS, Apple Music Classical on Android provides access to high-quality classical tracks at up to 192 kHz/24 bit Hi-Res Lossless, with a section of the catalog also supporting spatial audio. The Apple Music Classical app also offers a search engine that better understands the complex metadata that comes with classical music tracks.

For many years, Apple was reluctant to offer its services on Android devices, but having Apple Music on Android helps the company to compete with market leader Spotify. As pointed out by 9to5Mac, Apple launched its standalone Apple Music Classical app on Android before making it available on macOS. The iOS app also has yet to be optimized for the iPad.

Apple Music Classical is free to download from the Google Play Store, though you’ll need an Apple Music subscription to use it. New subscribers can try the service for free for one month before paying $10.99/month. Apple Music is pretty good value if you care about lossless and spatial audio, there’s also some exclusive content to enjoy with the ongoing Apple Music Live concert series.
