Amazon unveiled today its four new models of its Fire HD 8, the company’s best-selling Android-based tablet. The Fire HD 8, Fire HD 8 Plus, Fire HD 8 Kids, and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro all come with a 30% faster 6-core processor, up to 3GB of RAM, and up to 64GB of storage.

It’s the first update in two years for the Fire HD 8, and Amazon says that it made its new tablets thinner and lighter without compromising on battery life. The company promises up to 13 hours of usage, though the included 5W power adapter on the Fire HD 8 will need five hours to fully charge the tablet.

There are a couple of differences between the Fire HD 8 and the Fire HD 8 Plus: The latter bumps the amount from RAM from 2GB to 3GB, and it also comes with a 9W power adapter that can fully charge the tablet in 3 hours instead of 5. The Plus model also add supports for wireless charging with Qi-certified chargers.

The new Fire HD 8 Kids and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro come with a one-year subscription to Amazon KIds+, a kid-friendly case with an adjustable kickstand, and a two-year guarantee. The Kids Pro model is designed for ages 6-12 and it comes with an exclusive digital store where kids can discover and ask parents to purchase eBooks, apps, and games.

The new Fire HD 8 is available for pre-order today starting at $99.99, while the Fire HD 8 Plus starts at $119.99. The Fire HD 8 Kids and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro are also available for pre-order today for $149.99. The two tablets are also available in a Disney Design bundle that includes Mickey Mouse or Disney Princess cases for $159.99.

Yesterday, Amazon has also started sending invites for an upcoming virtual event on September 28th. The company is expected to announce new Echo speakers and other smart home devices on this occasion.
