Amazon’s Kindle Scribe Can Now Convert Handwritten Notes to Text

Posted May 22, 2023 | Amazon Kindle | Hardware | Kindle | Kindle Scribe | Windows

Amazon has started rolling out a new update for its Kindle Scribe, the first Kindle reader that ships with a pen to let users write on the screen. Until now, the Kindle scribe didn’t let users convert handwritten notes to test, but the latest update rolling out today changes that.

In the Share menu, Kindle Scribe owners will now see the option to convert a handwritten notebook into a .txt file. When choosing the share via email option, users will be able to preview and edit their notebook before sharing it with up to 5 people.

This new update for the Kindle Scribe also introduces a lasso select tool, as well as various new features for PDFs uploaded to a personal Kindle library. The additions include the ability to switch between portrait and landscape mode, crop margins, add text notes, and more.

Amazon is also adding a new selection of books and titles that support direct on-page writing on the Kindle Scribe. Supported content can be found in the “Write-on Books” section of the Kindle Store.

Amazon Kindle Scribeowners can expect to receive more new features that will be delivered via over-the-air updates. The Kindle Scribe starts at $339 for the model with 16 GB of RAM, but 32 GB and 64 GB models are also available.
