Amazon Adds New Game Hub to Fire TV Devices

Posted October 27, 2022 | Amazon | Amazon Fire TV | Fire TV | Games | Gaming | Windows

Amazon is adding a new Gaming hub on Fire TV devices that will promote cloud and local games, game trailers, and Twitch streams. The Games on Fire TV will be a new entry point to Amazon Luna, the company’s game streaming service that remains exclusively available in the US.

Amazon Luna currently provides access to hundreds of games via a subscription, and Amazon Prime members can also enjoy a rotating catalog of free games on Luna. To play cloud or local games, players just need to connect any Bluetooth game controller to a Fire TV device or Amazon’s Luna controller.

This new Gaming Hub can be found in the Games section under the Find Tab of the Fire TV interface. Don’t be surprised to see Amazon pushing its Luna service heavily there, as that’s also what Amazon does with Prime Video content on the Fire TV home screen.

The lineup of free Amazon Prime games with Luna currently includes Metro Exodus, Blair Witch, and 3 other games. You can get access to a bigger list of games by subscribing to one of the different Luna channels, and this is probably a better business model than the one from the soon-to-be-retired Google Stadia.

In other Fire TV-related news, Amazon is also launching today its new Fire TV Omni QLED Series. Starting at $799, the 65” and 75” combine premium picture quality, hands-free Alexa commands, and a brand new Ambient experience showing Alexa widgets when the TV isn’t in use.
