Alexa Can Now Answer Your Questions About Coronavirus

Posted March 27, 2020 | Alexa | Amazon | Coronavirus | Windows

The coronavirus outbreak has resulted in a ton of misinformation online. As a result, platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. have made it easier to access the official information and guidance on the outbreak recently.

And now, Amazon’s Alexa can now provide you with information about coronavirus. Amazon announced on Thursday that the company’s personal assistant can now offer guidance from the CDC depending on your symptoms.

You can ask the personal assistant things like “Alexa, what do I do if I think I have COVID-19?” or “Alexa, what do I do if I think I have coronavirus?” and it will walk you through a number of question about your symptoms, travel history etc. and give you guidance based on information from the CDC.

The update comes after Apple’s Siri started helping people with their questions about coronavirus earlier this week.

Users can also watch PSA videos from the CDC on the Amazon Fire TV and Echo Show by asking “Alexa, play the CDC video”.

In other countries like Japan, Alexa will allow you to check your risk level at home by using guidance from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare.

Elsewhere, Alexa can help you keep the time while you wash your hands for 20 seconds. You can now ask Alexa to sing a song for 20 seconds in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, India, the UK, and the U.S while you wash your hands.
